The YB’s formed after a chance meeting of band members at a party in Seattle, Washington U.S.A in 2002. Originally called Moonchild, their music began taking on new elements of deep boogie and psychedelic exploration and they felt a name change was in order. They recorded the basic tracks for their debut album, ‘Altered Steaks’ at Avast studios and finished it at bass player/producer, Bryan Garfinkle’s home studio.

It became something of a cult classic and attracted the attention of Van Conner of Screaming Trees and Clint Werner of Seaweed, among others. It’s finally receiving a proper release on Strange Earth Records in early 2012. YB’s played local shows, opening for bands such as Valis and Bottom and did a brief West Coast tour ending with a show in Caspar CA opening for Aaron Stauffer’s band The Blue Dot.
